Multi-response optimization of process and reinforcement parameters of hybrid reinforced Al matrix composites using Taguchi- Grey relational analysis

Abstract Hybrid aluminum matrix composites (HAMCs) are a new class of advanced composite and hybrid materials that can be customized engineered to achieve specific properties for applications in environments. HAMCs popular the transportation industry due their reduced cost fuel consumption as compared conventional materials. This research article has mainly focused on multi-response optimization through an L 16 orthogonal array experimental design employing Taguchi-based Grey Relational Analysis. It was intended explore influence tetra reinforced synthesized using pure Al with fixed wt% primary reinforcements (5 SiC 5 2 O 3 ) varying secondary such (0.5, 2.5, 4.5, 6.5) Gr SCBA physicomechanical when milling time, compaction pressure, sintering temperature were varied. The Taguchi-Grey’s relational analysis gave optimal combination process reinforcement parameters both physical mechanical time h.), pressure (55 MPa), (450 °C), content (0.5 wt%), (4.5 wt%). At optimum parameter settings, average density, porosity, hardness, compressive strength, ultimate tensile strength 2.5118 gm cm −3 , 0.8653%, 4228.45 MPa, 343.33 1516.41 respectively. utilization Taguchi GRA methods have significantly confirmed highest among all other four parameters. newly shown superior Al, single well double HAMCs. Therefore, it is anticipated developed AMC material will utilized heavy-duty, aerospace, medical, automotive, marine, applications.
